Da Da.......they have arrived!

A huge parcel arrived at the office today from the USA, and it was packed to the brim with 2011 calendars. Its not just the dog calendars we shoot for, we also do cattle, donkeys, horses and many other domestic animals, so it was an exciting and varied box that we had to sort through.
Those of you who kindly allowed us to photograph your lovely dogs, will soon get your calendars, and some of you are even on the covers so thats even more exciting! Ill be getting them out to you over the next couple of weeks, either at some shows or posting them out to the less local ones, and I hope you all love them as much as we do! Heres just a tiny selection as a taster.
We are now photographing for the 2013 range so if anyone would like their dog seen Internationally, by thousands.....give me a call!

Gundogs Galore

Another gundog photoshoot today, this time it got slightly messier as it involved a large pond, and when you add 3 HPR and a lab, its bound to be fun!

Wild horses wouldnt.......

.......make me undertake some of the jobs I get asked to do on occasions, (although I see our local rookie-cum-weekend warrior doens have quite such good taste!) however this week that has not been the case, and so far the jobs have included wild horses, slightly less wild foals, a pig and a golden retriever!
Its been mainly horses so far this week, but as the weekends' busy dog-shows loom, there are a couple of canine comissions to undertake.
Im pleased to once more be offered the contract for "Guide Dogs for the Blind" Photographer for the area, a contract Ive been pleased to have for the last three years, and on top of that Ive had the picture researcher from one of my favourite "glossies" asking me for more, more, more photos.....Cant be a bad start to the week can it!

All of the above!

This week has had fallow deer, puppies, a Premier Dog show, a millionaires yacht and a rare pig. What other job could encompass all of the above!!!
The deer and the pigs were part of a tourist attraction, for whom we are undertaking all their photography, and has been part of a long term project for their website and publications. The yacht was part of a job where I was the press photographer for an international exhibition, the dog show was plymouth & District Canine Associations very busy Premier show (one of my busiest dog shows) and the puppies....well they were just gorgeous and part of a well known dog exhibitors Annual campaign advert. Heres my favourite from the week!

Lurcher over and out!

This weekend saw the last of the summer lurcher shows, and what a great show it was! South West Lurcher and Terrier Club held their 2nd show of the season at Bovey Tracey and it was well attended with quality exhibits once again. This family group was my favourite photo of the day......really lovely quality puppies who should be able to work all winter and show off at the shows in the summer.

The countdown has started now.........

yes...at last the shooting season is about to begin, and Im beginning to get that familiar feeling of cold air, damp dogs and cordite!! Today I had a lovely time with the Court Barton Gundog team, and Im very much looking forward to a day with the beaters and guns this season, photographing their team of dogs.
Weve had a really busy week this week with the weekly publications......photos appearing Horse and Hound, Countrymans Weekly and Jagd, and with three "monthlies" taking our images for their October issues, its been quite a rushed week so far trying to keep up with their deadlines!

Year in and year out

Most peoples "year" runs from January to December, but I tend to plan my business year around the "work"seasons, and for me the current year is ending with the usual run of "Year Books" for the canine and agricultural clients, and welcoming in the "new year" with the commencement of perhaps my busiest time.....the start of the fieldsports season.
We have already had 7 field trials booked in for the start of the season, as well as many shooting days booked, including 3 in Europe, so it looks like being another busy period.
The lovely weather this week has unfortunately seen me huddled in my office doing year-book artwork for several clients, including one in Slovakia and another in Holland, instead of being outside enjoying the warmth and sunshine. There was one nice commissioned job though which took me up onto the neighbouring Dartmoor for a sunny photoshoot as well as an editorial shoot for a national newspaper, in sunny Crediton!
Now I just need to hope the rain holds off for just a few more days as this weekend Im covering a large outdoor show, and next week is one of my larger calendar shoots at a local National Trust garden. Fingers crossed!
