Hot Chicks

When I told the guys we had some hot chicks coming into the studio for a calendar photo shoot I think I might have raised their hopes somewhat......the chicks however were quite gorgeous and loved their photoshoot!
Its been a hugely busy week this week, having to get the next batch of contacts over to the calendar editor, as well as putting final touches on our stand for a couple of up and coming country fairs where we are photographing and offering hospitality to friends and clients.
We alsp had a couple of nice front covers in May

Back to Front!

The last week or so has been a bit back to front......last week I was working at Devon County Show, covering the cattle and dog sections......and it was great to catch up with some of my livestock/ cattle clients, and share a bacon bap with them every morning. I spent an hour on the second day helping chalk up a heifer for her showing debut....brought back so many memories of when I used to show Carmen and Rhett my holsteins.

This week Ive been photographing on a top show winning dairy farm, to illustrate an article on preparing cattle for the showring, so its a bit back to front really, but all good fun. Weve had a good mix of image library sales as well this week, with some of the more unusual ones being a bulldog puppy sold to an Indian publisher and a Labradoodle image sold to Nicaragua for a school text book. The mind boggles at what they are reading about in nicaraguan schools!!  Those clients who are regulars will all know Kitti who works for Farlap....well we just want to congratulate her today as she took her Australian Shepherd to the World Dog Show in Budapest at the weekend, where he won best Veteran In Show. Well done "Silver" and Kitti....we are very proud of you.

Photography.....Its all in (the) De Tail

As someone once said to me.....Peacocks are meticulous because they show attention to de tail. OK I know thats awful.....but I couldnt see thats normally all you ever see of peacocks, their tails, and when I was on a photo shoot this week I came across this handsome chap and felt his  beautiful colours in his head and neck were actually far more stunning than his tail.

This little piggy........

An interesting week so far! First things first, a bit of an update with the website. Last year we did work for Guide Dogs for the Blind, which involved working with a partially sighted client. We were looking at the Farlap website together, and he commented on how hard it was for him to read white type on a black background. Although this combination has been an industry standard for many years, I decided to start thinking about changing it to make it more accessible to visually impaired clients, and after much discussion with them it was generally considered a white background/black font was the best solution. Hence our slightly cleaner cut looking website, which I hope you can all enjoy a little more easily now.

You are probably wondering why the piggy title ? Well we had a photo shoot this week for a very big Supermarket Chain, who are promoting their Spring Lamb. Whilst on this shoot I was asked to get a shot of the farmers tame and "trained" kune kune pig. Apparently if you showed him a custard cream hed sit up and beg. Did he  heck!!! First glimpse of an open field and he was off......well it was certainly an experience to remember, three of us after one wayward pig!
